Film Description:
This new documentary presents vegan doctors such as Dr. Michael Greger and Dr. Neal Barnard who promote a plant-based diet for the treatment and prevention of major diseases including diabetes, cancer, obesity, and heart disease. The movie has raised significant discussion whether living the vegan lifestyle is necessary to achieve optimum health as the film suggests. Importantly it starts off with a clip of Dr. Robert Ratner of the American Diabetes Association who said that, “We are in the midst of a diabetes epidemic…” where 1 in 3 Medicare dollars is spent in caring for people with diabetes and 1 in 10 for total health care dollars. Ample research is supporting the fact that our regular meat and diary based US diet is not sustainable for our planet. The directors aim to “expose the collusion and corruption in government and big business that is costing us trillions of healthcare dollars, and keeping us sick”.
