Hands on Heart CPR Class Hosted at WES

This past Sunday, WES hosted a Hands on Heart CPR class. WES coordinated with the DC Fire & EMS Department to put on the training. According to the DCFEMS website:

Most people who experience cardiac arrest at home, work or in a public location die because they don’t receive immediate CPR from someone on the scene. As a bystander, your actions can only help. DCFEMS offers free classes on the basics of hands-only CPR and AED awareness. The training instructs participants to focus on their hand placement, tempo and the number of compressions for two minute intervals. Hands-only CPR is a technique that involves chest compressions without artificial respiration. Studies indicate that hands-only CPR performed immediately may increase a cardiac arrest victim’s chance of survival.
Be sure to check out the video of everyone practicing their compressions to the song “Stayin’ Alive” at https://www.facebook.com/WashingtonEthicalSociety/videos/vb.39879906039/10155812969351040/?type=3
