Even without a pandemic, it’s difficult to stay connected to people. But we know it’s still worth the time and energy to try because it’s through our connections that we are able to enjoy life more fully and support each other through challenges. Sometimes it just takes a little extra thought and practice, which is why the Community Relations Committee (CRC) is preparing our next workshop on Sustaining Positive Relationships.
This session will be led by WES member Emily Newman. Expanding on the Sustaining Positive Relationships section of the WES Community Relations Pact, we’ll learn how to be present in our relationships and help all parties feel recognized and respected. Together we’ll explore empathy, humility, consent, and reconciliation; important building blocks to connection.
Participants will consider the various meaningful relationships we have and how to strengthen them with better communication about our boundaries and needs. We’ll discuss how to best give and receive apologies, and practice how to call people in so we can all enjoy more inclusive and welcoming communities.
