From the WES Immigration Team: Communities Not Cages

Hello WES Immigration Justice Advocates,

UU Cedar Lane, UUA, UUSC and UUSJ are joining forces to support many immigrant advocacy groups in a demonstration to end (most) detention of immigrants Thursday, March 3, outside of ICE offices at 500 12th St SW, DC at 12:30 (gathering at noon).

We hope you will join us. We are looking to rally at least five WES folks for this MD/DC/VA event. Similar events will be happening around the country.

There is no reason to place asylum seekers and other immigrants in detention merely for crossing the border.  Other alternatives can be used.  Under Biden, the number of people under detention has doubled!  Worse, COVID cases are rampant in these detention centers owing to crowding, lack of protective products and failure to immunize.

Join us on March 3, National Day of Action!

Let’s exercise our collective muscle to protest this bad policy.

The Smithsonian Metro is closest, exit on the Dept. of Agriculture side, then walk 4 blocks down 12th St to # 500 SW.  If you think you can join, let us know, and to meet up that day, send a text to 202-486-9626.

Patti Absher, representing the WES Immigration Team.
