Next week, WIN will bring our budget priorities to the table at the Mayor’s Budget Forums. The District’s financial prosperity has created an unprecedented opportunity to invest in housing—by building and preserving affordable units and fighting displacement—and in keeping immigrant families together through legal representation that resists deportation.
It’s time to show up and ask our government to invest in our communities. Here are the details for the three forums that will take place next week:
RSVP HERE | Tuesday, February 18, 6:30 p.m, Edgewood Recreation Center, 301 Frankin St NE |

RSVP HERE | Thursday, February 20, 6:30 p.m., University of the District of Columbia, 4200 Connecticut Ave NW |

RSVP HERE | Saturday, February 22, 11 a.m., Kenilworth Recreation Center, 4321 Ord St NE |
Below is a photo from a budget forum last year with our team in blue shirts seated around the room:
We are excited to bring even more blue WIN shirts into the picture this year! If you plan on coming to a forum, please arrive 10 minutes early so that the WIN team present can prep together. Blue WIN shirts will be provided; bring yours if you have one already. Once there, we will mingle with those in attendance and make our priorities known:
- Funding for preservation and expansion of affordable housing
- Funding for preservation of public housing (both short-term repairs and long-term investing in housing that doesn’t displace residents)
- Room in the budget to ensure that development on public land has units that are 1/3 deeply affordable, 1/3 affordable, and 1/3 market rate
- $5 million in funding for immigrant legal services
Please RSVP above if you plan on coming. If you have any questions, please reply to this email.
Peace,
