Immigration Film Festival
A dynamic volunteer opportunity awaits you…
Make new friends while participating in one of the greatest social justice issues of our times.
In December 2012 WES members from the Immigration Reform Committee turned to a bold idea to draw more people to immigration issues. Why not organize a film festival to explore themes around immigrants and migrations that are changing the social and political landscape at home and around the globe?
Our research revealed there is a plethora of compelling, well-made documentaries, dramas and shorts that are often overlooked in the rush for blockbusters.
WES members went on to found the Greater Washington Immigration Film Fest, along with our religious, civic and labor partner organizations. We gratefully acknowledges funding support by the Unitarian Universalists in the National Capital Region and our media and business partners BB&T, El Tiempo Latino, WAMU-FM WPFW and the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority.
