Wisdom Never mistake knowledge for wisdom. One helps you make a living; the other helps you make a life. Sandra Carey The intuitive mind is a sacred gift and the rational mind is a faithful servant. We have created a society that honors the servant and has forgotten the gift. Albert Einstein |

This month’s theme packet, which is available to members of WES, includes readings, poems, exercises, and suggestions of movies and books that explore the theme. It can be found here, using the password for the members’ access section (available from the office). If you would like to explore the themes–or other topics that connect us to each other–through a small group experience, please be in touch with Amanda. We have several openings in Deepening Circles, a wonderful way to get to know other members and talk about the Big Issues of life. |
We have several adult education opportunities this month: Join members of the Community Relations Committee at a workshop on conflict transformation offered at the UU Church of Silver Spring on Saturday, March 7, 10am-3pm. You can learn more and register here; please let the CRC know if you are planning to attend. ALL are welcome to join our newcomers at the first Path to Membership class, which focuses on Ethical Culture history and philosophy: Tuesday, March 10, 7pm. Bring your wisdom if you’re a longtime member, bring your desire to learn no matter how long you’ve been here. Please RSVP to Maceo. Our share the plate recipient is Future Link, which provides low-income, first-generation-to-college young adults with the tools, skills and resources to achieve lasting economic self-sufficiency. |
WES is proud to host several monthly discussion gatherings that focus on wisdom in different ways–opportunities for people to gather and talk about a particular subject or idea! You are always welcome to drop in at: Biology Discussion Group – 2nd Sundays at 1pm Sunday Book Club – 3rd Sundays at 1pm Philosophy Discussion Group – 4th Sundays at 1pm SciFi Book Club – 4th Sundays at 1pm (childcare available) The WES office would be happy to give you more information on any of these groups. |
We invite you to reflect at home with your friends, family, and children throughout the month on the question: Who is the wisest person you know? Which of their lessons might be worth remembering today? If you post pictures or thoughts on Facebook, Instagram, or Twitter, make sure to use the hashtag #WESwisdom. Thank you for exploring the theme of Wisdom with us throughout March! |
