Do you have a favourite dish you love to prepare?
Do you have new grilling tools you have yet to try out?
Do you have card tables and games you could set up for a rousing game night?
Do you have a talent you would like to share with others?
If so, the Auction is coming up and the Auction Committee would love to offer/feature an event hosted by you! Yes. WES wants you!
From personal experience I can tell you that some of my favourite times have been hosting a party. And the parties have differed – from one where I recreated the classic British curry dinner from my youth while also offering guests lessons about the history of gin, to hosting a party to celebrate Louise Penny’s mysteries and the world of the mythical/mystical village Three Pines in Quebec by cooking dishes that had been featured in Penny’s mystery stories.
What made those parties so memorable is that I was able to share something I love, and I was able to do so, more often than not, with WES members that I hadn’t yet been able to spend much time with. At the end of every event, I knew that I had benefitted WES by offering an event that made money for the Auction, but I also knew that I had benefitted personally because a new WES member or an old WES member dined with me, for the first time, in my home. For me, once I have fed you, once my dog (Georgie Girl) has licked you, and once my wife (Sera) has explained something I said or did that mystified you, I believe you and I are fast friends through and through.
Please consider solidifying/amplifying your friendship circle by hosting an event – between 22 October 2017 and 19 October 2018 – to be auctioned off on the 21st of October 2017 at our annual Auction Celebration.
