Salary: $20.50/hour, 10 hours per week.

Benefits: The position is for 10 hours per week, and therefore not eligible for benefits but the employee will accrue paid time off and get all standard WES holidays off.

Education Requirements: Demonstrated capacity to perform essential tasks, history of working with finances and HR. Preference for background in congregational finance; Bachelors or equivalent work/life experience required

The Washington Ethical Society (WES) is a humanist congregation in DC with affiliations with the American Ethical Union and the Unitarian Universalist Association. 

The Finance Administrator manages finances and bookkeeping elements, and human resources, at the Washington Ethical Society.

 Essential Functions:

  • Process, manage, and oversee all aspects of accounting, including interface with accounting system and working with bookkeeping help.
  • Handle human resources including processing new hires, recommending and maintaining best practices, and processing payroll.
  • Support Senior Leader in creation of the annual budget.
  • Produce monthly financial reports, including balance sheet and cash flow, and tracking the budget.
  • Work with the Senior Leader and Finance Team to oversee budget management, including high-level analysis of WES’ financial position.
  • Respond to requests from government agencies, the Unitarian Universalist Association, and the American Ethical Union.
  • Serve as a vital member of the staff team, contributing to staff decision making as well as larger goal creation and alignment, and supporting the overall mission of WES.
  • Other duties as required by the Senior Leader.
