Is there such a thing as evil? What is it and how does it come in to the world? We will explore these questions in dialogue with Rev. Dr. Emilie Townes’ 2006 text “Womanist Ethics and the Cultural Production of Evil” which provides analytical tools to understand how and why evil functions in the world and works to deconstruct memory, history, and myth as received wisdom as it critically examines racism, sexism, poverty, and stereotypes.
