WES, Water, & Human Rights

Robin Broad, Research Professor at American University and John Cavanagh, long-time director of the Institute for Policy Studies, will discuss their award-winning book: The Water Defenders: How Ordinary People Saved a Country from Corporate Greed, and offer insights from a recent fact-finding delegation to El Salvador. It is a tale replete with corporate greed, a transnational lawsuit at a secretive World Bank tribunal in Washington, violent threats, murders, and–surprisingly—victory. (Spoiler alert: WES played a role.)

Music from Lilo Gonzalez.
