Deck the Hall for Winter Festival
WES Winter Festival is this Sunday, and to prepare, we need to Deck the Hall! Please join in on Saturday, December 16, from 2 to 6 pm to transform the Main Hall into a winter wonderland! Many hands make light work and no special skills are required — we’ll be placing decorations and generally making spirits bright. The Winter Festival actors will be rehearsing at the same time, so it will be a festive mood to prepare for the Festival.
Sunday, December 17
Winter Festival Platform Service, 10:30am
People of all ages are invited to help bring winter to life in one of WES’s favorite celebrations. We’ll lift up peace, hope, love, joy, and giving in creative and collaborative ways.
Holiday Cookie Swap, After Platform
Bring 2 dozen plated cookies (and a label with allergens) and a tupperware container. Following platform, take your tupperware and collect other cookies to take home!
Ornament Gifting, After Platform
Bring one or two of the special ornaments that you’ve kept in the cupboard. They may be a little battered (all the better) but these tiny reminders are precious. If you will share stories of your childhood at Christmas, or other holidays, we will also experience the joy and happy days of bygone times. You’re invited take your ornament home with you unless you’d like to donate it to the children of the Afghan family that WES volunteers have been caring for and tutoring this past year-and-a-half. Perhaps your cherished ornament can become a legacy for the Mohammadi family, uprooted from their traditions.
Wednesday, December 20, 4-9pm
Un-Deck the Hall
WES Winter Festival was a glorious celebration of the gifts of the season — but the decorations need to come down (since we have other renters that use the hall). Please join in on Wednesday, December 20, from 4 to 9 pm to help return the Main Hall to its usual state. You can enjoy dinner with Wednesdays at WES (don’t forget to register for that!), too.
