Winter Festival

The Winter Festival is an annual, multigenerational celebration held in December, often near the winter solstice, to share comfort and hope during the year’s darkest days while looking forward to renewal. A central feature is a secular, humanistic play—written and performed by WES members of all ages—that dramatizes how the community deals with the winter season and looks toward the sun’s return, often exploring core values like peace, hope, love, joy, and giving. This cherished tradition is much more than a performance, as it also includes musical acts, candle-lighting ceremonies (like the Peace Spiral), and often culminates with social activities such as cocoa, cookies, and caroling, fostering a strong sense of community and connection. Music from the WES Chorus.
