Update: Migrant Buses & WES’ Support

Since last April, more than 8,500 migrants seeking asylum have been bused to Washington, D.C. from Texas and Arizona.  Although these folks are being used as a political ploy by Governors Abbott and Ducey, they are human beings who are in harm’s way.   Most are fleeing gang violence and hunger.  While many are now being bused to other large cities, we are still seeing from 100 – 150 new arrivals each week here.  From the beginning, the Migrant Solidarity Mutual Aid Network, an ad-hoc group of amazing volunteers have been showing up for these folks: offering food, shelter, clothing and medical assistance.   Most are on their way to the homes of friends and family elsewhere.  Some have decided to stay here.
