The Washington Ethical Society stands against assaults on the dignity and worth of all transgender people. We affirm the right of all humans to live in alignment with their true selves, and we stand with our members, friends, and relatives who are trans and non- binary. We believe that everyone deserves to be treated fairly and kindly. Within our own congregation, we reaffirm our commitment to honoring all members’ and visitors’ chosen names and pronouns, respecting their right to use whichever bathroom they feel most comfortable using, and providing further education for our community on gender diversity. We also call on all our elected officials, from our local school boards to our federal representatives, to stand up for their transgender constituents and their rights to access medical care, play sports, serve in the military, use the bathroom, travel, work, and otherwise live their lives in peace.
