Welcoming our new Director of Lifelong Learning!

After an extensive nationwide search, the Director of Lifelong Learning Hiring Team is delighted to introduce WES’ new DLL! We are so excited to welcome Lara Profitt to WES. The Hiring Team was drawn to Lara’s significant experience running religious and ethical education programming, her commitment to anti-racism work, and her knowledge of and personal connection to humanism.

Lara will begin mid-July, and will spend her first couple of weeks getting to know you. Lara, Amanda, and Ndara are spending time this week on institutional knowledge transfer, and Lara and Lyn have already had a chance to connect as well. We hope that you will give Lara a warm welcome when she arrives!

Lara has worked in the education field since she graduated from college. She has been both a teacher and administrator for in-school and out-of-school educational programs. Lara has a degree in English from the University of Virginia and a Masters degree in Curriculum and Instruction from George Mason University. She has worked in the field of religious education for 8 years and feels called to help create programs that help children and youth imagine and create a just world for all.

While not working, Lara lives with her family in Leesburg VA. This family also includes 4 cats and a Great Dane! She enjoys reading, podcasts, yoga, hiking, and attempting new recipes in her free time.

Thank you to all for your support and patience as we have gone through this hiring process. We are so pleased to be able to share the result!
