WES Blog — A SEEK Update

Dear SEEK Families,

A new year can often bring about hopes and goals that can manifest a new way of thinking and doing things.  Currently SEEK is being reimagined to support families during the pandemic as it continues to progress across the US.  I’m happy to share that I have been busy organizing necessary data and reshaping some ways that we will collect information from you in the future.

In addition, I am brainstorming and working on ways that I can better support SEEK during this transitional period with the changes in leadership and moving from in-person to online programming.  Here are a few components that I have been working on:

  • SEEK/Youth Registration Application – This newly revamped application will provide us with the most useful information about you and your family as it pertains to SEEK/Youth programming
  • WES Youth & Safety Policy- WES is committed to having policies in place that ensures the safety of all children/youth who participate in-person and in virtual environments.
  • WES SEEK Behavioral Practices-  WES is committed to creating inclusive & supportive environments that allow for children to participate in programming in safe and appropriate ways.  WES is also mindful and supportive of children expressing what that inclusion & support may look like for them.
  • Strategy Saturday- This year was my first time (but not last!) participating in the Board’s Strategy Saturday.  It was great, but also important, for me to hear from others what they hope for SEEK,  what SEEK means to them and areas where SEEk can be improved.

So what’s next you say?  Lyn, Linda and I have been discussing providing an opportunity for families to participate in a SEEK Visioning session.  We are eager to hear from you how SEEK can continue to support your families.

In addition, I am planning to participate in Religious Education training that will help me align my thinking and planning for SEEK with the core values of WES.

Warmly,

Ndara Miles, SEEK Assistant
