WES Blog — Renewal in Challenging Times

Dear WES Families,

I hope that this month is bringing a wave of great Renewal as your children have returned to school virtually or as you have begun to continue your home school teachings at home.  The slightest change in weather always makes me giddy about Fall and the beauty that is about to take place.  It also signifies a new school year taking place at my full-time job; getting to meet and see new little faces and families that will matriculate through our program.  It is also a time that I would be excited to see SEEK families returning from vacations and welcoming them back into the program; a renewed year of programming and lasting connections.

Although SEEK may not be operating at the moment, all of you have been on my mind in my heart as some of you take on multitasking in a major way.   Managing full-time work, your child’s school schedule (or non-school schedule) and day-to-day family needs can be a struggle.  I hope you have time to reflect on the joy and growth that Renewal can bring during challenging times.  I feel like 2020 has been a year to show us how to do things in a new (yes unconventional but more effective way; essentially preparing us for another time that may come as a surprise.  During this time I wish you all a sense of Renewal that brings you peace and patience.

I want to say to the youth at WES, know that your hard work and dedication to complete school virtually will help you become more prepared for the changing ways of the world, grow the confidence of a Lion and be more resilient than ever.  Your efforts will fill the pages of history books and stories for the youth of the future.  You will grow and reflect on that time in 2020 when life took a less than normal path but you made it through.

I hope you all have an amazing school year (or non-school year) and I hope that we can all come back together soon.

Best Regards,

Ndara Miles, SEEK Assistant
