Summer SEEK Programming – Come and BUILD with us! |
The SEEK Team–that’s Allison Adcock-Melgosa, Shelagh Bocoum, Laura Delaney (chair), Adam Goldberg, Julie Grimes, Rima Izem, Chris Oswald, Kati Towle, and Steve Stasiowski–is so excited to share our plans for summer SEEK programming. And we hope that you (yes, you!) find a way to work with our children and youth on a project that captures your imagination. Running from June 23 through August 25, we will offer our children of various ages different projects and connections. You can sign up anytime to be part of building the fun! |
Babies R Us Our littlest ones (nursery through preschool) will have fun, cuddles, and playtime with trained caregivers and with our community baby-holders. Love to snuggle infants? Like playing with playdough? Reach out to Shelagh Bocoum to be part of our nursery team. |
Little Free Food Pantry Love using a drill? Care about feeding kids? Join our K-5th group (and their high school helpers!) to build a Little Free Food Pantry, which will join our Little Free Library out front and offer non-perishable food items to anyone who needs them. Those of you wanting to help sand, nail, and paint can be in touch with Laura Delaney or sign up for a Sunday. |
Book Group Our 6th-12th graders are invited to participate in a book group! The youth will choose the titles and shape their discussion. Will they race through Rick Riordan? Love Lois Lowry? Keep the spark alive with Kwame Alexander? If you enjoy talking with our incredibly thoughtful kids about what matters to them–and what worlds they want to create–let Julie Grimes know or sign up for a Sunday. 6th-12th graders have the option each week of joining the Book Group discussion, or of joining the other projects listed here. |
Mural! The back of our building sure is looking…plain, isn’t it? This summer, our K-5th graders and their high school helpers will change that with the application of paintbrush and paint, creating a mural that will draw the eye and share our values. Kati Towle welcomes your help (or you can sign up for a Sunday), and she also welcomes your cans of exterior paint! Please bring them to WES by July 14; this project will begin on July 21. |
Gardening If you care about the earth (or just love digging in the dirt), you’ll be glad to know: our butterfly garden is underway! Supported by members of the Earth Ethics Action Team, our children will learn about and nurture the garden that will bring beauty and all the right bugs to WES. Rima Izem can tell you more, or you can sign up here. |
